Use ISO 9001 when the central need is consistent products or services, customer requirements and quality-management control
ISO SELECTION GUIDE · UAE
Which ISO standard does your UAE company actually need?
Start with the reason for the request—not the standard number. A tender may require quality assurance, a customer security review may point to information security, and a contractor prequalification may combine quality, environment and occupational health and safety. The correct choice follows the required outcome, certification scope and activities your organisation controls.
WHEN THIS HELPS
Situations we can help you resolve.
- ✓A tender says ‘ISO certified’ without naming the standard
- ✓A customer questionnaire asks for quality, environmental or security evidence
- ✓Management wants certification but has not defined the business objective
- ✓Several standards appear relevant and the team is considering an integrated system
- ✓A supplier has offered a document package before confirming the scope
PRACTICAL DECISION SEQUENCE
Work through the question in a useful order.
Use this sequence to clarify the requirement and organise the next decision. Confirm standard-specific interpretations with the authorised standard and an independent certification body.
Use ISO 14001 when the organisation must manage environmental aspects, obligations and measurable environmental performance
Use ISO 45001 when workplace hazards, worker participation and occupational health and safety performance are central
Use ISO/IEC 27001 when customers or the organisation need a risk-led information security management system
Use ISO 22000 when the scope is in the food chain and requires a food safety management system
Confirm whether the requirement names a specific edition, accreditation condition, legal entity, site or activity
Define one defensible scope statement before requesting consultancy and certification-body quotations
Integrate shared processes where multiple standards genuinely apply instead of creating parallel systems
BUSINESS OUTCOMES
Designed to improve the way the system works.
DIRECT ANSWERS
Questions about this resource.
Is ISO 9001 the general certificate every company needs?+
No. ISO 9001 addresses quality management and is widely applicable, but it does not replace environmental, occupational health and safety, information security or food-safety standards when those are the real requirement.
Can one company implement several ISO standards?+
Yes. Many management-system standards share a harmonised structure, so common processes such as document control, objectives, internal audit, management review and corrective action can be integrated.
What if the customer only says ‘ISO required’?+
Ask the customer to confirm the standard, edition, certification scope and deadline. LETA can review the wording and help formulate the clarification before implementation begins.
Does LETA decide whether we receive the certificate?+
No. LETA provides selection, scope and implementation consultancy. An independent certification body performs the certification audit and makes the certificate decision.
