If a customer, tender, supplier-registration process or manager has asked your company to get ISO certified, do not begin by buying a certificate or copying a document pack. Obtain the exact wording first: UAE procurement requirements are not identical. For example, Abu Dhabi Judicial Department identifies ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 for suppliers and service providers carrying out high-risk activities, while ENEC explains that safety-related or augmented-quality supply can require additional vendor qualification and an ISO 9001 industrial quality programme. An independent certification body audits the implemented management system and makes the certification decision. ISO develops standards but does not certify organisations. LETA provides consultancy, implementation support and internal audits; it does not issue ISO certificates.

No. Requirements depend on the authority, category, risk and tender. The UAE Ministry of Finance supplier-registration service lists core company documents for federal registration, while specific authorities and high-risk or safety-related procurement routes can introduce ISO and additional qualification requirements. Which ISO standards are commonly requested from UAE contractors and high-risk suppliers?+
ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 are frequently referenced for quality, environmental and occupational health and safety management. This does not mean every supplier needs all three. Can we prepare without a consultant?+
Yes. An organisation may implement a management system internally if it has the competence and capacity. A consultant can provide structure, independent challenge and implementation support, but the organisation must own and operate the system.
What happens after certification?+
The system must continue operating. Maintain controls and records, monitor objectives, close nonconformities, complete internal audits and management reviews, and prepare for the certification body's surveillance and recertification activities.
